Hurricane Handyman — SMS/Text Messaging Program Terms (“Hurricane Handyman Alerts”)

1. The Program

Hurricane Handyman Alerts is an optional SMS/text messaging program operated by HSW International Inc. (“Hurricane Handyman,” “we,” “us”) that sends transactional notifications about your activity on the Hurricane Handyman platform. Message types include:

  • job alerts (new job postings in a service professional’s area);
  • bid, quote, and hiring updates (quotes received, quote accepted or declined);
  • work status notices (work started, completion submitted);
  • payment and escrow updates (payment approved, payment released);
  • dispute notices; and
  • account and security notices.

This program does not send marketing or promotional messages.

2. Consent

You will only receive text messages if you opt in — by checking the optional, unchecked SMS consent box during signup, or by enabling SMS notifications in your account settings. Consent is not a condition of creating an account, using the platform, or purchasing any service. We record the date, time, IP address, and the exact consent language you agreed to.

3. Message Frequency and Cost

Message frequency varies based on your account activity (for example, job alerts, hiring updates, payment status, and dispute notices); there is no fixed recurring schedule. Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier plan. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Except for critical account-security notices, we send text messages only between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. in your local time zone.

4. Opt Out (STOP)

Reply STOP to any message to cancel at any time. You will receive a single message confirming your opt-out, and no further messages will be sent unless you opt back in. You can also turn off SMS notifications in your account settings or contact [email protected].

5. Help (HELP)

Reply HELP to any message, or contact [email protected], for assistance.

6. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information, including mobile information. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, excluding aggregators and providers of the text message services acting on our behalf.

Program messages are delivered through Twilio, our SMS delivery provider, which processes phone numbers and message content solely to deliver them. Consent and opt-out records are retained for at least four (4) years.
