Pre-Storm Home Inventory

Document your home's condition BEFORE storm season. A time-stamped, immutable record can be critical evidence if damage occurs.

The single most valuable thing you can do before a hurricane season is have an independent, time-stamped record of your home's condition while it's still intact. Hurricane Handyman connects you with a local handyman who will photograph the interior and exterior of your home, document major systems and finishes, and deliver an immutable PDF inventory you can store offline, in cloud storage, or wherever else you keep important records.

The best time to book is before the official June 1 start of Atlantic hurricane season. Booking after a storm has formed in the Gulf or Atlantic is generally too late — handymen are already mobilized to active storm-prep work.

The inventory is yours. Hurricane Handyman does not retain, share, or sell the photos. Use the record for your own files, for renewal of insurance coverage, for estate planning, or for any other purpose you choose.

Why Use Hurricane Handyman?

Independent local handymen and contractors — compare quotes and profiles, and confirm credentials directly before you hire.

Escrow payment protection on every booking via Stripe — your funds release only after you approve completed work or after the dispute window closes.

Built for storm season. We're not a generic handyman platform that handles storm prep on the side. Storm-related work is what we do.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why book this before a storm forms?
Once a named storm has formed in the Atlantic or Gulf, handymen are mobilized to storm-prep work — installing shutters, securing properties, prepping for evacuation. Pre-storm inventory has to happen on the calm side of the season, ideally May through early June.
What's in the inventory?
Photographs of every room, every major appliance, every exterior elevation, the roof if safely accessible, and the property's mechanical systems. The handyman delivers a PDF with date- and location-stamped images and a written inventory schedule.
Where should I store the inventory?
Wherever you store other important records — cloud storage, a fireproof safe, a trusted family member's house outside the storm zone. Hurricane Handyman does not retain a copy beyond the period required for booking and payment processing.
Can I use this for insurance?
The inventory is a record of your home's condition. How you use it is your decision. Hurricane Handyman does not interpret insurance policies or advise on coverage. If you have specific questions about your policy, contact your insurance agent or a licensed public adjuster in your state.
